Annual General Meeting

4/1/2021

The Board

The Annual General Meeting of Lithgow Aged Care was held on 27 November 2020 and at that meeting a new Board was elected.
The new Board Chair is Stephen Lesslie.   Fellow Board members are:  Barbara Weldon, Glynn Clarke, Krishan Karthikeyan, Johanna Staines and Susan Gregory.
The Board is passionate about the aged care sector and all Directors have close links to the Lithgow region.
Grahame Danaher was appointed as the CEO of Lithgow Aged Care on 9 December 2020.

Message from the Chair

As a Board our first responsibility is the health and welfare of our residents.
The Government, and in particular the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC), have a number of standards that must be met to ensure that aged care facilities, such as Lithgow Aged Care, can be accredited.
Our task as Directors and staff of Lithgow Aged Care is to meet those standards.
In 2019 Lithgow Aged Care did not meet those standards and was placed in sanctions.
The then Board was required to appoint an Administrator and improvements were made. However, following an inspection by the ACQSC in October 2020 it was determined that the standards had gone backwards and on 18 December 2020 the Commission again imposed sanctions on the facility.
We are forbidden to take in any new residents and we have only a short time to satisfy the ACQSC inspectors.
This is the task ahead of us.
On a personal note in the short time I have been Chair of the Board I have noticed that Lithgow Aged Care is a happy place and that the care and love that our staff give to our residents is exceptional.

Stephen Lesslie
